Andrea Lorentz HonBA, RMT(ret), CMRP
I graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1996 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts. Following university, I completed a diploma program at a private health college to become a Chiropractic Health Assistant (CHA). After working for several busy multi-disciplinary clinics in Hamilton and Kitchener, I realized I wanted to pursue a more hands-on career in health care. In 2008 I completed the intensive two year, 2,200 hour program at the Cambridge campus of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, receiving an Honours Award for Outstanding Academic and Clinical Achievement (over 90% average). Courses included massage theory and techniques, pathology, anatomy, physiology, neurology, orthopedic assessment, professional development and hydrotherapy.
I worked in a multi-disciplinary clinic in Waterloo, The Natural Way Health Clinic, for 5 years before moving to the Norfolk area and establishing my home office practice, as well as gaining valuable experience with all kinds of injuries working out of a physiotherapy clinic in Simcoe. I have experience treating a wide variety of conditions, and participate in continuing education courses yearly. I have completed workshops in Osteopathy and a course in 'Esalen Deep Tissue Massage' which is a synthesis of massage and direct fascia mobilization techniques.
Starting in 2017, I began training in the revolutionary treatment called Matrix Repatterning www.matrixrepatterning.com. Developed and taught by Canadian Naturopath and Chiropractor Dr. George Roth B.Sc, DC, ND, this therapy can permanently heal lifelong or recent injuries including concussions, GERD, restless leg syndrome, knee/hip/shoulder pain, headaches. The necessary case studies, thesis, written and practical exams to become a Certified Matrix Repatterning Practitioner have now been completed to obtain the CMRP designation in November 2019.
Other courses taken include:
A self proclaimed 'therapy junkie', I love learning from practitioners both in massage and other health care settings. Therapies that I have used personally include osteopathy, chiropractic, physiotherapy, naturopathic medicine, Matrix Repatterning, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Active Release Technique (ART), Graston Technique, Chinese cupping therapy, shockwave therapy, Bioflex & Theralase & MLS laser therapy, ultrasound, interferential current (IFC), craniosacral therapy, dry needling, medical and Chinese acupuncture, podiatry, Matrix Repatterning, Bowen Therapy, Body Talk, Emotion Code, Body Code and homeopathy. I find having an understanding of various healing modalities helps me to refer clients to what therapy would be most beneficial to them, as well as picking up techniques that I can incorporate into my treatments. In fact, I'm always eager to sit in on family and friends' appointments just for educational reasons! Previously with no health concerns, my health started to decline in many ways in 2005. By 2019, a Matrix Repatterning practitioner discovered my condition was Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS). Since greatly reducing the electromagnetic fields (EMFs) in my life, my health has dramatically improved.
In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband, and our dogs, cows, chickens and horses. In fact, the horses experienced chiropractic care, craniosacral therapy, acupuncture and massage before I ever did! I also spend time hiking, dog training, and reading, reading, reading - there is never enough time to read everything I would like to which includes health research and techniques, animal and human health/diet, and for fun, crime fiction!
